LONG TERM VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

 

 

PROGRAM FEATURE:

The Long Term Volunteer Program is designed for Volunteers who want to engage in long term activities and / or community projects.Volunteers are engaged in a variety of activities consisting essentially in Education Program and Elimination of Illiteracy Program.

EDUCATION PROGRAM: The teaching is made in Primary School and Secondary School.In Primary School, the teaching is related to: French and Language, Algebra and Calculus, History, Geography and Biology.In Secondary School, the teaching is related to: French, English, German, Spanish.

Elimination of Illiteracy Program: The elimination of illiteracy plan lasts 2 years at a rate of 2 or 3 courses per week. The classes are of 15 pupils to the maximum. A card of follow-up allows the learning of each one. The first year must make it possible to the participants to read and write short sentences and texts in order to be able to manage with the daily evolution. The second year of post-elimination of illiteracy must allow the reading and the drafting of complex texts, there is also a training of calculation for the management of budgets and projects.At the end of each year there is an examination to evaluate knowledge before the handing-over of diploma. This first year proceeds in 3 phases: Phase 1: Training of alphabet Phase 2: Reading of words and short texts Phase 3: Drafting of sentences and short texts This project is based on the principle of reciprocity.

LENGTH:The LTVP is designed for 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months.

LODGING: A Homestay Program is designed especially for long term volunteers but is also applicable to short term volunteers. In a Homestay Program, volunteers live with a host family while working. Volunteers get four meals per day and a private room or a shared room with another international volunteer.The local coordinator of community projects will assist volunteers with host family placement. Host Families are carefully screened and selected for safety and comfort of volunteers.
